A suspected Palestinian was shot dead in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba and another injured after they allegedly opened fire on Israelis in the city’s central bus station, killing one and injuring at least nine others, Israeli police said.
Israeli police spokesperson Micky Rosenfeld said that four Israelis had been hospitalized, although Israeli media reported that six were wounded.
Rosenfeld said that one of the attackers was shot dead by police and the other apprehended, but he could not confirm that they were Palestinian.
He added that the area around the central bus station had been closed off.
The alleged attack follows a series of other attacks that have left seven Israelis dead since the beginning of the month.
Some 42 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces in the same period — some after allegedly carrying out attacks on Israelis, but many others at demonstrations.
